Back in 2006, a craft beer rep in Orlando for a small distributor with no advertising budget, selling a whole bunch of beers from craft breweries, also with no budgets, had to find ways to get people to try beers in his catalog. One of his earliest idea was an "educational" beer tour on bicycles. The idea was simple, select five or six establishments who were embracing the craft beer movement, ask them to feature a craft beer from his catalog, and then reward them by bringing in 30-60 cyclists to buy said beers.
Fast forward to the future and 2018 and there are now as many actual breweries in the region as there were bars with craft beer back then. That craft beer rep has since retired and now goes to breweries for fun rather than business. There is is also now a thing called SunRail, something many of us thought we would ever see in this area. So, we are updating the idea of the Beer Bomb Bicycle Tour and visiting actual breweries now, and widening our reach by using the train from the future!
So far, the lineup looks to be along these lines: Start at Inner Compass Brewing Company, ride to Sunrail, head down to The Imperial at Washburn Imports for a beer class (TBD), then zip over to Ten 10 Brewing Company for a quick beer. Then we take the train down to the Orlando Amtrak Station and bike over to Orlando Brewing. Next train ride will take us to Longwood for a trip to Hourglass Brewing. Then it's back to Sanford to wrap things up (Hopefully at Tuffys perhaps?).
This is a "at your own risk" event, also you can expect to spend at least $10 for Sunrail trips. Trip itinerary subject to changes.
Helmets are suggested and bicycle lights might be necessary if things run late. Always ride with traffic in single file and obey all traffic laws!
For any equipment needs, please see Matt over at Pedal Driven Co. beforehand. . . he will be riding with us as well!
