Life can be stressful. The pressures of modern culture include everything from personal challenges to tensions related to the fast-paced infrastructure of modern times. In order to keep up with the world around us, we are often compelled to live in a state of mindless-ness. This state is one that cleaves our awareness from our life experiences. Amidst the hustle-and-bustle of everyday life, it is important to ensure optimal health and wellness. One way to do that is through mindfulness practices. Mindfulness allows us to wake up to our lives; it involves attending to the present moment without judgment. The application of mindfulness involves bringing acute attention to experiences, thoughts, and feelings. The act of noticing these aspects of life without judgment creates a space where one can observe the immediate experience-becoming aware and present in the current moment. Through the cultivation of present-moment awareness, a person can quiet their mind, and initiate a return to centered and focused thinking. This practice can help reduce stress, build and nurture relationships, improve productivity, cultivate well-being, and free the mind for novel and creative thinking.
In this 3 hour workshop, participants are introduced to mindfulness practices such as yoga and meditation and learn several different ways to incorporate mindfulness into their day. Through experiential learning and reflection, participants gain a greater understanding of the innate resources they possess for increased awareness, and learn to access these resources for stress reduction, enhanced relationships, and well-being.
