2 U.S. Kids Golf, LLC was started in 1996 as a solution to the problem its founder, Dan Van Horn, had when getting his kids into golf. “They were enthusiastic at first, but their interest quickly dropped. They weren’t having fun,” Van Horn recalls. “At the time, I didn’t know cutoffs and junior clubs were so heavy. They were not only hurting my kids’ swings, but also their desire to play.” That’s when Van Horn began developing Ultralight Kids Clubs, designed to be 25% lighter than adult and most junior clubs, and formed the company U.S. Kids Golf. Since then, parents and pros around the world have seen the incredible difference that correctly fit clubs have made in their young players’ swings and enthusiasm for the game. Today, U.S. Kids Golf is the world’s leading provider of junior golf equipment.
ABOUT US 3 The U.S. Kids Golf Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a stated mission to “help kids have fun learning the lifelong game of golf and to encourage family interaction that builds lasting memories.” Our foundation serves this purpose through educating and certifying coaches, conducting events at a local, state, regional, international level, and providing tools and programs that allow golf courses to scale their designs. This allows young and new players to enjoy golf without feeling unwelcome or intimidated. Since our inception in 2001, more than 1 million young golfers have been positively impacted through the efforts of the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation. Today, the Tournament Players Association runs more than 1,200 tournaments worldwide.
ABOUT US 4 PLAYER-CADDIE RELATIONSHIP The player-caddie relationship is important at every level of competition, and it’s even more special when the caddie is the player’s parent. A parent caddie is the perfect example of the U.S. Kids Golf mission – encouraging family interaction that builds lasting memories. We believe the parents’ role is crucial to developing young players. Local Tour Directors should encourage parents to caddie for their kids and use the parent resources available on our website. One of these resources is our partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). This organization provides vital information in the role of parenting young athletes. All parents, and especially those who caddie, are strongly encouraged to complete the 2nd Goal Parent PCA course online. U.S. Kids Golf provides a discount code for the course.
