Welcome to your neighbourhood film school, a new series of hosted screenings exploring film history and introducing current debates in cinema culture. Fill in the gaps in your film knowledge and join the conversation. London has one of the most exciting and diverse cinema scenes in the world, and we welcome the writers, critics, curators and cultural commentators of the capital to NW10. Everyone welcome!
Voted the best film of the 2000s by Time Out and the second best film of the century by the BBC, Wong Kar-Wai’s sedate, sensual drama follows two neighbours in a crowded Hong Kong tenement who discover that their respective spouses are engaged in a secret affair. Visually sumptuous, deeply moving and beautifully played by Hong Kong superstars Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung, this deserves to be experienced on the cinema screen.
In the Mood for Love will be introduced by Sonali Joshi, producer and film curator at Day for Night and the Aperture: Asia & Pacific Film Festival.
Need some weekend reading? The Friday before each screening we’ll email you film notes, suggested further reading and your free 30 days of Mubi.
