Our friends from Serbia are back with their amazing wines!
They will let us taste the wines, and tell the incredible story behind them.
With a wine culture going back to Roman times Serbia is one of the oldest wine making regions in Europe. There are several beautiful wine areas in the country, in central Serbian part around western-Morava, in the eastern part along the Timok river, in the south around Nis and southern-Morava and in the northern region of Vojvodina, with several sub-regions. These areas have fertile grounds perfectly situated for growing European and indigenous grape varieties.
Today, much to the delight of wine-loving Europe there is a revival of Serbian wines. New techniques are learned and applied, old techniques are being rediscovered. Investments are done in equipment, vessels, vineyards and indigenous grape varieties that were never completely gone. A dominant, well known indigenous red grape variety is Prokupac and some of the important white grape indigenous varieties are Morava, Tamjanika and Smederevka.
