A night of PDX music threaded together by folky story telling.
Wooden Sleepers is a Portland based folk-grass band offering boot-stomping traditional bluegrass and modern folk with deep grooves and creativity. Their music spans and blurs the broad genres of folk, bluegrass, and americana, taking nods from influences such as Trampled by Turtles, Milk Carton Kids, and Fruition. Their debut full length album is expected later this year.
Matthew Fountain and the Whereabouts
Born on the gulf coast of Mississippi into a family of Dixieland jazz musicians, it came as no surprise to many that Matthew Fountain made his way back to music after an extended absence. Given the overlap in the conception of his newest album, Born on the Hook with Fountain’s adventures in screenwriting, it’s no surprise that this eclectic set is unified by its theatricality.
With the band complementing Melaiah's soft brooding vocals they are best described as shoegaze country, desert blues. Anomelea specializes in dreamy sounds and getting to know your nightmares, as their music invites the listener to partake in an ethereal experience.
