What? Bob Hicok is this year's Mary Blossom Lee poet. Hicok was born in 1960 and worked in the automotive industry and as a computer system administrator before beginning a teaching career in 2002. He received an MFA from Vermont College in 2004 and currently teaches at Virginia Tech. His first book of poetry, The Legend of Light (1995) won the Felix Pollak Prize and was a 1997 ALA Booklist Notable Book of the Year. His other collections are Plus Shipping (1998), Animal Soul (finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, 2001), Insomnia Diary (2004), This Clumsy Living (winner of the 2008 Bobbitt Prize from the Library of Congress), Elegy Owed (2014), and Sex & Love & (2016). He has won fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the NEA. His work has been included in five volumes of Best American Poetry, and he has been awarded three Pushcart Prizes.
