Singer songwriters Susan Lucas and EG Phillips will be performing as a duo at The Mint LA in the heart of #LosAngeles as part of bill being shared with saxophonist Mike Phillips and the Chrissy Shefts Band.
The Mint, established in 1937, is a local landmark. Many music greats have not only played here, but broke here. Stevie Wonder, Willie Dixon, Natalie Cole, Ray Charles and more have graced our seasoned stage. More recent prominent artists include Ben Harper, Macy Gray, and The Wallflowers.
Acoustic Neo-Soul singer-songwriter Susan Lucas was born and raised in Ventura Country, California. She creates new heartfelt music inspired by classic soul and folk artists including Lauryn Hill, #EttaJames, Amy Winehouse, and #TracyChapman.
You can catch Lucas performing around Los Angeles, Malibu and Ventura County. She is currently working on her EP and plans to release new music in August.
E.G. Phillips is a #SanFrancisco based songwriter who creates lyric driven songs with his own special blend of whimsy and cinematic imagery which he uses to give a wry take on dealing with the longings of the heart and the madness of existence. He comes from a country called the Midwest, has a degree in Geography, and his favorites include Bob Dylan and The Kinks as well as #DukeEllington and that crowd (a touch of #TomLehrer is also in the mix). "Ducks With Pants" is the name of his so-called fake (and sometimes real) band.
Phillips has been the "Songwriter-in-Residence" at Bazaar Cafe (September 2015 and April 2017) and a featured performer at San Francisco venues such as the Hotel Utah, Neck of the Woods, PianoFight and Cafe International. For the past two years, E.G. has hosted “E.G. Phest" (most recently at the Lost Church) where a dozen or so Bay Area musicians cover one of his songs for his birthday, giving them their own distinct spin and bringing the local music community together in what is really a celebration of song, the art of performance and friendship.
In early 2017 Phillips released his first official album "Fish from the Sky" — a collection of well worn originals he's performed around the #BayArea for many years.
