Lucie Thorne & The Yearlings bring an intimate double-bill concert to The Old Church on the Hill in Bendigo on Friday 25th May.

Lucie Thorne has earned her place as one of Australia’s most striking contemporary songsmiths. With eleven releases to her name – including her latest LP Everything Sings Tonight – and a prodigious touring schedule, Thorne continues to carve out an extraordinary creative career. Thorne conjure “exquisitely impressionistic… poetry in motion” (*Rolling Stone) with an intimacy and warmth for which her live shows have become so renowned. “A demonstration of power through grace and subtlety. World Class.” (Roots Down) “Atmospheric, innovative… brilliance” (*Sydney Morning Herald).

South Australian sweethearts The Yearlings make music that exudes raw beauty, honesty, intimacy and passion, and have built a reputation for their evocative songwriting, keen harmonies and mesmerizing live performances. With Parkinson’s signature guitar tones and Chalklen’s hypnotic prose, The Yearlings deliver tunes with a confidence that carries an addictive fragility. Quiet, intimate, raw and powerful, they produce a new strain of acoustic music, distilling Americana alt. country through the filter of distinctly Australian life.

The Old Church on the Hill is located on the corner of Harkness and Russell Streets, Quarry Hill, Bendigo.
The Singer/Songwriter Showcase events, staged at the Old Church by the Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival crew on a semi-regular basis, are an opportunity to enjoy a House Concert vibe in a public venue. The door charge is generally $15 for adults, under 12s free and, although drinks are available for sale, the focus is on THE MUSIC. If your conversation is more important to you than other people’s enjoyment of the artists’ performance, please take it outside.
Proceeds from drink sales go to supporting the Old Church crew and their many worthy initiatives. Sound production is provided by R&J DJ & Entertainment and the door takings are able to be shared between the performers with thanks to our valued sponsors picking up the costs that would normally come out of the door.
We look forward to your company for an intimate concert experience you’re unlikely to have experienced before.
