The talk will take a journey into Vietnam's history through the lives and works of it's artists with a special focus on women. Incorporating artworks, photographs and archival materials, this talk will explore the personal experiences of artists who studied, fought, witnessed and documented major changes in 20th and 21st-century Vietnam.
Sophie Hughes has worked in the arts in Southeast Asia since 2009; as Manager of Galerie Quynh, as Director for independent film festival Future Shorts Southeast Asia and as Founder of community film organisation mê phim – passionate about film. Since August 2011 she has worked with renowned researchers, artists, gallerists and curators to create Sophie’s Art Tour. Prior to moving to Vietnam she worked in Arts Education and Arts Development.
