This 4-week mindfulness course will focus on how we can increase our compassion to ourselves - noting that if we are more self-compassionate, this will effect our relationships and those around us in a positive way. How can we be there for others if we are emotionally depleted ourselves?
This is an introductory course around the area of compassion. I will offer different practices to help increase our compassion for ourselves. We will also look at a variety of models to help us understand why we get trapped into responses to diffiulties in life that are unhelpful, affecting both ourselves and those around us. Once we learn our automatic unhelpful responses, we can start to make considered changes.
Any of the sessions can be attended on a drop-in basis, for £10 per session. The full course costs £30. Concessions and subsidised places available - please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss further - you can also book directly through me to avoid the booking fee - email me to arrange.
The four weeks will be themed as follows:
Week 1 (26th April): What is compassion and why do we need it?
Week 2 (3rd May): Looking at our emotional regulation systems - why we respond the way we do
Week 3 (10th May): Response to Threat: Unlearning the Automatic
Week 4 (17th May): Taking in the Good
The session runs from 6-7pm each week. There willl be handouts for all the sessions, sent via email after each session. Yoga mats and meditation cushions are provided. You may wish to bring a blanket for additional comfort.
