In January of 2017 Joanie recorded Louisiana Landscape, her original song about her native land. Studio bassist Steve Benton later asked Joanie to form a band to perform her original music. Steve also named the band ‘The Joanitones.’( Pronounced The Joe-Knee-Tones).
Steve’s thumping on bass and precise harmony is genius and fills the melody with body and theme. One of Steve’s favorite notes is “B”.
Lead Kyle Martin, a fourth generation guitarist, is a Centenary graduate. Kyle’s innovation adds depth to each song and he delights audiences with his lap steel wizardry as well as his electric groove. Kyle raises chickens. Drummer Marc Miller took lessons from Heinz Williams at Shreveport Music and gets his skills from eating pasta every day. His airy vocals lend a smooth vibe to Joanie’s voice and rhythm guitar. Joanie has been compared vocally to Margo Timmons and Chrissie Hynde although she thinks she’s channeling Neil Young with multiple personalities. Red Rider, our videographer and audio recorder, has created stylized CD’s to share at shows and videos to share via the Internet. Red has the coolest collection of audio visual equipment around and is an avid inventor who dotes on his Doggie Augie and cat Bosco.
Find our music on Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Youtube, and Facebook. The studio version of Louisiana Landscape can be found on Amazon, CD Baby, Spotify, and Bandcamp. The Joanitones continue to play originals and loved covers and delight audiences all over the area. A big shout out to Ryan and all the staff at The Port Grill for inviting us in!
