Since their conception, CT-based Funk/Soul band West End Blend has been playing their version of Funk and Soul in venues all over the Northeast. Fronted by vocalist Erica T. Bryan, the band pays homage to classic throwback sounds while adding their own distinct vibe and flair. Behind her, the Blend packs two guitars, a two-piece horn section, bass, keyboards and drums onto stages every night. From humble beginnings in an epic sweaty funky basement dance party, the Blend’s goal has always been to bring that same atmosphere to every show ever since.
The Blend released their debut full length record, “Rewind”, in the Fall of 2015. The album was recorded at Telefunken Studios with Grammy Award winning engineer, Brendan Morawski. Alongside their album release, West End Blend shared the stage with Charles Bradley, Turkuaz, members of Snarky Puppy and Lettuce, Break Science, Kung Fu, Twiddle, Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds, The Nth Power, The Motet and countless others Jam/Funk staples.

NEW HAVEN INDEPENDENT
“...the highlight of Thursday’s show was Erica Bryan’s resonant vocal effort. She might have the clearest, strongest voice in the state, belting out choruses with ease.” - Alessandro Powell
“West End Blend sounds like the funk giants mentioned earlier (George Clinton, Earth Wind & Fire, Kool & the Gang), but it's closer in spirit to the more recent acid jazz: the Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, Digable Planets and others, who pull together various strains of funk, soul, hip-hop and jazz.” - Mike Hamad
Raleigh's newest addition to the jam scene, Maj Deeka!
A culmination of four seasoned musicians and friends, Maj Deeka formed in early 2018 after an introductory jam in South Raleigh proved natural and creative. The group comprises Matt Kirk on the electrified bass, Andy Blair on guitar and vocals, Evan Bost on keys and vocals, and Ryan Masecar on drums, vocals, and the recorder (recording technology). Although each member brings varying musical experiences and style to the mix, there is a common thirst to create harmonically interesting compositions with rock n’ roll fundamentals, storied vocals, and group improvisation on stage. Maj Deeka’s eclectic sound is sure to evolve and refine as this band of late writes new music, reinterprets crowd pleasing covers, and engages with their audience.
