There will be a post-screening Q&A with the film director - Marie Nyreröd
"I feel strongly that I’m surrounded by other realities. I feel I’m surrounded by entities who wish to tell me things. It’s not a superstition. It’s a fact – that’s how it is."
- Ingmar Bergman,
excerpt from Bergman Island.
Four years before his death, the famously reclusive Bergman sat down with Swedish documentarian Marie Nyreröd to give the most personal, candid and illuminating interviews of his lifetime. Filmed on Fårö, a small and stony island in the Baltic Sea and Bergman’s chosen home for the last remaining decade of his life, Bergman Island offers a fascinating and instructive portrait of the filmmaker’s life and work. This documentary will satiate any cineaste as we come face-to-face with Bergman, this time before the camera rather than behind it, revealing his greatest fears and most deep-seated inspirations.
We are very honoured to have Marie Nyreröd with us in Singapore for the screening, sharing with us exclusive insights into the making of the documentary and the life and mind of one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.
