If you’re trying to get a deeper understanding of Italian wine, Piedmont is one of the most useful wine regions to get to know. For one, Piedmont introduces us to a completely new set of wine grapes to taste and understand – from Nebbiolo to Cortese. Secondly, Piedmont (Piemonte) is one of the most famous regions in Italy (the other is Tuscany). And finally, Piedmont is located in the Po River Valley, which is home to ⅓ of the population of Italy .
We will be sampling:
1.Malvira Arneis $16.99
Elegant and aromatic, Malvira's Roero Arneis is a vibrant and complex white that shows notes of citrus, white flowers, melon, peaches and lemon with balanced acidity and a long finish.
It is the perfect pairing with mild cheeses, light antipasti, fish and shellfish.
2 .Stefano Masone Gavi $14.99
100% Cortese planted in 1978 to very poor, calcareous clay soils at 250 meters above sea level. Vinified in stainless steel. Straw yellow with a persistent nose and a palate that is intense and fruity.
3.E. Pira Dolcetto d’Alba $19.99
Intense ruby red with purple reflections. It has a persistent profume of flowers and fruit with scents of violet adn smalll red fruit. The structure is balanced and elegant.
4. Luigi Pira Barbera d’Alba $15.99
Intense ruby red color. The nose is young, complex, well balanced between spicy notes of oak and wild berries. The taste is mouthfilling, balanced and very persistent.
5.Silvio Grasso Barolo $39.99
The Grasso family has been producing wine since 1927; Federico Grasso started bottling in 1980, and has “produced a bevy of sensational efforts over recent vintages” (Robert Parker). His sophisticated, modern Barolos are particularly notable for avoiding excessive wood aromas; to this end, Grasso prefers to use large barrels rather than barriques for maturation, and uses less than 30% new wood even on his single-vineyard bottlings.

Wines will be accompanied by a selection of cheeses, crackers, artisanal breads &olive oil. The cost for one flight (a sample of each of the wines) will be $15.No reservations required.
