In 2005, four musicians got together for an informal session in one of Sligo’s most unique pubs, ‘Shoot the Crows’. Soon the Wednesday night session was one of the most famed in the area, with musical styles from Irish Traditional to Latin Bossa and a lot more in between. Encouraged by the weekly rapturous response, the four musicians, harking from different musical and cultural backgrounds, agreed to join forces and take their unique styles to the next level; NoCrows was born.
Now featuring Felip Carbonell (guitar, percussion), Ray Coen (guitar, fiddle), Anna Houston (cello, mandolin), Eddie Lee (double bass, electric bass), Oleg Ponomarev (violin) and
Steve Wickham (fiddle, mandolin, viola) the band celebrated twelve years of its musical journey in 2017 with a fifth CD release, entitled “Why Us?”
Such is the versatility of its musicians, NoCrows is impossible to pigeonhole into one genre.
Their exciting live set reflects their versatility in a virtuosic display of unadulterated joy. These musicians never fail to show how much they love performing together, drawing music
from one another with great ease.
