Join us at The Skinny Pancake for a fundraiser to benefit The Vermont Ibutwa Initiative & community and enjoy delicious food specials featuring African eggplant, amaranth greens, and VT Chevron goat!
$1 of every special will return directly to VT Ibutwa Initiative
As an approach to begin addressing the deep injustices in mining communities in the DRC, Ibutwa formed in 2011 here in Burlington, Vermont with Congolese refugees and professors from St. Michaels College. Local 501c3 non profit, The Vermont Ibutwa Initiative, strives to empower survivors of sexual violence in the DRC to become financially independent after receiving medical services and educational opportunities.
These services would not be possible without donations!
Ibutwa volunteers have collaborated with Skinny Pancake and the Champlain College Center For Service & Sustainability to expand Ibutwa's sustainable livelihoods program. We currently have 2 acres under organic produce production in Kamanyola (located in the South Kivu Province) and hope to expand this project with your support!
