Light & Shade are back at the Thirsty Oyster Tavern in Gordon's Bay Old Harbour THIS Friday 6th April... Live music starts at 8pm!
A good performance, whether it is a speech or an orchestra ensemble, never lacks in Light & Shade.
Jeandre Swanepoel will be on vox and guitar and is bringing the classically trained Jeanette Claassen with to mesmerise you on the viola.
More on the band:
Light & Shade was born in 2017 as an acoustic blues duo act consisting of Jeandré Swanepoel on vox & guitar and Luke Smith on keyboard.
Swanepoel, frontman to grunge-rock group DeWallen, exchanged the distorted electric guitar for his trusty acoustic during this solo venture, but felt compelled to team up with the gifted Smith after hearing him perform the blues on his Korg keyboard at 03:00am in Aandklas, Stellenbosch.
Smith has a background in classical music, but knew his abilities on the ebony and ivory would extend far beyond this genre. He started playing the blues at the age of 17 and today he hypnotises audiences with his guitar-quality riffs on the keys.
In 2018 the band grew in membership: classically trained Jeanette Claassen joined with her skill on the viola, Adriaan Jordaan brings in rhythm on the drums and powerhouse Justin Jefthas occasionally joins on the electric guitar & scat-rap.
They have landed residencies and prime-time gigs in and around Cape Town and are working on new songs and assembling promotional material to keep up with their already-successful shows.
You never know what you're going to get with Light & Shade, whether it be the duo, trio or full band... all that you need to know however is that you will be entertained.
