Worship Leader: Charlotte Lehmann

This service will present the history of the UUA Empowerment Controversy that took place in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In many ways, the origins of Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism (BLUU) dates back to this time when many Black UUs left our faith in the wake of unfilled promises made by the Association during what became known at the time as the “black empowerment controversy.” BLUU grew out of the broader Movement for Black Lives.
