About Black Girls Break Bread:
Black Girls Break Bread Inc., is an organization founded in Chicago, Illinois with a mission to uplift, empower and inspire Black women of all ages through the creation of safe spaces for engagement and intellectual discourse. Black Girls Break Bread Inc. has partnered with colleges and universities nationwide, as well as local non-profit organizations affiliated with The Chicago Public School system servicing K-12th grades to host events monthly. Black Girls Break Bread also hosts quarterly events publicly in the Chicagoland area as an organization.
In partnership with the Office of the Provost, Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs the nonprofit Black Girls Break Bread will be hosting a dinner at the University of Chicago.
This event is completely free but restricted to black female identifying staff, faculty, and students.
There will also be local high school students in attendance to give insight into what life is like at a PWI.
1) Strengthen bonds between Black women on campus.
2) Create a space for Black women to feel included and safe.
3) Facilitate meaningful dialogue on issues facing the Black female community.
