Taught by illustrator Emma Block, this contemporary brush lettering workshop will focus on developing skills and learning techniques allowing you to grow in confidence and start to develop your own brush lettering style. We'll start with exercises to practice making shapes, creating lines of different thicknesses and using different brushstrokes. You'll then practice writing the alphabet, words and phrases with plenty of help and guidance on hand. You will be given a complete set of materials which you can take away after class, including guide sheets, a brush and a pot of indian ink. Plus you'll learn how to photograph your brush lettering using just your iPhone to create a unique piece of digital artwork!
About your teacher: Emma Block is a London based illustrator whose work can be found in children’s books, packaging, magazines, greetings cards and books for adults. She also teaches watercolours and brush lettering. She has worked for clients including Stylist Magazine, Random House Canada, Bloomsbury, Harper Collins, UNIQLO, Orla Kiely, Anthropologie, Mollie Makes and Time Out.quality. Skills needed: No previous experience is required. This class starts at the very beginning so is suitable for complete beginners.
