Yoga Nidra stills the brain waves by conscious entry
into the sleep state.
Through guided meditation, you begin sensing parts of the body to trigger the relaxation response. In this process, your brain shifts from an awakened state to a more relaxed state. Here, the mood regulating hormone, serotonin, gets released, calming you down.
Once relaxed, you are guided into a deep alpha and high theta brain-wave state, the dream state. In theta, your thoughts slow down and emotional release happens.
After theta, you are guided to delta; this is the most restorative state, in which your organs regenerate and the stress hormone cortisol is removed from your system.
This delta state is a feeling of deep surrender and loss
of consciousness, but you are awake.
You are then guided back to your waking state.
This class allows you to rewire your thoughts and emotions, resting more in the space between. Accessing the subconscious mind in this way offers a clear pathway to intentions, giving a sense of freedom and affirmation.
Other benefits include reducing stress, inducing restful sleep, lowering blood pressure, and boosting the immune system: which helps prevent illness, promotes healing, and slows premature aging.
