NQ Arbuckle (aka Neville Quinlan) first met Carolyn Mark at the Legendary Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. There was a lot of feverous nodding and arm clasping and laughter. The feeling of where have you been all my life?

It was the early 2000's and Carolyn and her band (The Room-Mates) were ending their set with a version of These Boots are Made for Walking that referenced Klaus Nomi's Total Eclipse of the Heart AND The End by The Doors.
Neville, while always a musician and artist, also happened to be a booking agent at the time and quit the moment Carolyn suggested he book her and went into publishing.

The two did, eventually become friends and when Neville recorded his first album (Hanging the Battle Scarred Piñata) in Vancouver, Carolyn hopped a ferry broke into the studio to sing some unbidden harmonies.

The collaboration continued more formally with Carolyn singing harmonies on NQ's second and third albums- Last Supper in a Cheap Town and XO K.

In 2010, mostly based on their mutual love of the Alberta band Jr Gone Wild, the two decided to make it official and made an album together which resulted in the Juno nominated Let's Just Stay Here.
And only a few minor head wounds.
Some mild frostbite.
And a trip for 2 to Newfoundland!

Carolyn didn't sing on NQ's most recent album- The Future Happens Anyway but he did write her a song- Lifeboat (Song for Carolyn Mark) and the pair collaborated on a video.

On Carolyn's most recent album Come! Back! Special! she covered NQ's In Another Time.
And fun fact: NQ came up with the opening line for the song Order Up.
It is very exciting to have NQ in Vancouver as he rarely is able to make it "out west".
Tell both your friends and see you by the pool table!
