FRIDAY THE 13TH with Fixity, Laurie Shaw, Cruiser & Aerialist.
The Poor Relation Doors || 8pm || €10
FIXITY is an experimental music group led by Composer/Drummer Dan Walsh. The tunes are explored in collective improvisation with a fluid cast of musicians from various fields of intrigue.
In June 2016 Fixity released the first in a series of self-produced and self-titled albums on the KantCope cassette label and since has recorded consistently with Tenor Saxophonist Emil Nerstrand (Lumi/Brigaden/Greasy Margaret) including a Double LP on Penske Recordings in December 2016 entitled "The Things In The Room", also featuring Guitarist Nils Andersson (Ljom/Ava) and Fredrik Persson (Sista Bossen/The Good Morning Spider/Leo Kall/Cassus) which was recorded in a single evening at the historic Tambourine Studios in Malmo, Sweden.
Since the release of "The Things In The Room" Fixity has released 2 Live EPs recorded in Cork and Malmö and has performed in Sweden and throughout Ireland with a cast of unique improvisers such as Carolyn Goodwin (Woodwinds), Philip Christie (Synthesizer), Kevin Terry (Guitar/Clarinet), Neil Ó Loclainn (Bass/Flute) and Declan O'Shea (Bass), continuing to expand on questions of the impossibility of stillness and repetition with an increasing network of collaborators and their welcome voices.
2018 will see more touring in Ireland in April and elsewhere in Autumn as well as the release of a new album featuring an expanded group later in the year some time ok.
Laurie Shaw has made 50 plus records since he was fourteen at his cleansing spa in the luxurious Kerry mountains.

Cruiser have been on the come up in Limerick for the last 2 years blending catchy tunes and thoughtful lyricism with pulverising dynamics and one of the loudest/fastest attacks around. After a slew of singles and the HOT 4 U EP the four-piece, comprised of Ger Devine (vocals/guitar), Rachael Drennan (bass), Chris Quigley (guitar) and Steve Savage (drums), have just dropped their debut self-titled album which is chock full of more belters (such as lead singles 'Grownapart' and 'Spine') but also showcases slower and more experimental sides to the band too (such as on tracks 'Gram' and 'Things We Learnt'). The album was launched on October 14th in Pharmacia, Limerick to a packed room of 120+ people.
Cruiser cut their teeth live playing opening slots with bands such as windings, Otherkin, The Altered Hours, Protobaby and Rats On Rafts as well as various headline shows in Limerick and appearances at Whelans Ones To Watch 2016, DIE and Dolans 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' show.
Aerialist are a four piece instrumental post-rock band based in Cork Ireland. The band draws influence from bands such as Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky. The combination of odd time signatures, layered guitars and big build ups results in an emotional and intriguing sound.
