Yoga & Qi Gong: The Five Elements with Thara Srinivasan
Saturday, May 19, 2–4pm | $40
The Five Elements framework was developed by ancient Chinese sages to describe the dynamic patterns of nature using five fundamental energies: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. The relationships among the Five Elements are believed to represent the physiological relationships between the internal organs. In this workshop we will learn the Five Elements qi gong set to harmonize the internal organs. We will explore how qi gong and yoga, which also works with the inner body, can complement and deepen each other. All levels welcome.
Thara Srinivasan, PhD, teaches at The Yoga Room. Yoga has been a strong tradition in her family for generations. She learned pranayama (yoga breathwork) and meditation from her grandfather, a lifelong yogi, and viniyoga (a style of yoga movement with the breath) from her father, a student of T.K.V. Desikachar. Her classes also incorporate qi gong, which she studied at the Wen Wu School in El Cerrito and with Master Shi Yong Yao (former Grand Master of qi gong and kung fu at the Shaolin Temple in China)
