Huntington Ingalls Industries-Newport News Shipbuilding (HII-NNS) needs welders to build the next generation of US Navy aircraft carriers and submarines and places a priority on hiring transitioning military personnel and veterans. If you are a transitioning service member or recently discharged veteran who currently is unemployed or under-employed, you may qualify for the Veterans Marine Welding Program.
Thomas Nelson is collaborating with HII-NNS and the Peninsula Council for Workforce Development to offer the Veterans Marine Welder Training Program, a three-week, 120-hour intensive course in American Welding Society (AWS) Shielded Metal Arc Welding.
The program qualifies you to earn $18 an hour with full benefits, and train for further national industry certifications to advance in your field, all while making a vital contribution to the nation’s defense.
The training is provided in Thomas Nelson’s state-of-the-art welding center. Best of all, the Thomas Nelson SMAW course is offered at little or no cost depending on your program eligibility and available funding.
