Join us for delicious French comfort food. Our takeout meal this month will feature ragout . Ragout (pronounced ragu) is one of those dishes that varies by region and family. Ours includes carrots, squash, rutabaga, red onions, green cabbage, plum tomatoes, and pieces of beef slow cooked in a sauce made from white wine, vegetable broth, thyme and sage. It is also accompanied by a hunk of homemade baguette.
Pick up is just inside City Alliance Church (420 Elmira St.). Look for the doors at the corner of Edwin & Elmira Streets.
Each takeout meal is $7. There may be a small number or unreserved meals, but we highly recommend pre-ordering to guarantee a meal. (We sold out last month.) Pre-orders can be placed at http://thriveip.org/comfort-food-from-around-the-world/ (Please note--we can't include "going" on Facebook as a pre-order. Stop by the website to pre-order. It's super quick :)
Joining us for a takeout meal not only allows you to experience a bit of another culture and take a break from cooking, it also provides opportunities for students in Thrive's classes to practice language and other skills on takeout days. Additionally, the meals help support our ESL classes providing weekly opportunities for those who are working hard to learn English as a second language and be integral parts of our community.
