We are extending our Monday class asana and it is morphing to Yin yoga and, of course, keeping Yoga Nidra too.
Yin yoga is a more relaxed, slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time—for beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more.
Yoga nidra, a lying meditation. Each meditation is designed to balance brain waves and the nervous system while developing more body and emotional awareness and mental stability.
Through April, we will still do Mondays 9:30-10:30 1/2 Chair or Floor Restore & Yoga Nidra Sleep with Billie Reinhart. In May, Shelli Saleeb will start Yin Yoga from 9:15-10:15 with Yoga Nidra 10:30-11:00. You can come to both or one. See you there!
One morning's visualization portion of the Yoga Nidra meditation envisioned the chakras, with a blossoming flower and sound to match. There is beautiful imagery each time, like water, hikes, loving interactions, and sometimes uncomfortable visions like cold or pain beforehand. It is amazing to see the power of your mind. You create your experience. Practice being in control of your mind rather than it controlling you. No one ever said it was easy. That's why it's called practice.
Another sweet & gentle yoga class is with Angela Gray'd Easy Peasy Restore, with half restorative yoga on Tuesday night's at 7 pm. Restorative yoga is done with postures lying over an oblong pillow, called a bolster. This is a great practice for someone with a long work day. Class even starts later in the evening so you can walk the dog and eat a little before settling to practice. Enjoy the benefits of yoga without feeling like you need a lot of energy to show up. Learning to rest and restore is part of the yoga practice.
Class is held by Shelli Saleeb. No preregistration required. Drop-in weekly for $12 or buy a class package for weekly classes at a discounted rate.
