We kindly invite you to celebrate the world’s fifth International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. By nominating this day, The United Nations have wanted to internationally recognize and honor the role of sport as a bridge builder between nations and groups and as a catalyst for movement, action and empowerment.
This year´s theme is Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goal number four (SDG4): Quality Education – How technological innovations can help to empower physical and health education in developing countries?
Sports belongs to everyone: It’s a source of joy and empowerment. When applied to schools it also becomes a powerful tool towards public health, learning, gender equity and a sense of social belonging. Yet, many teachers in developing countries lack the knowhow and the material resources to help the students enjoy doing sports and learning of its benefits to the fullest. How to support them in creating quality sports and health education?
To get solutions to this global issue LiiKe together with Helsinki Think Company and Smash organize a challenge to support teachers’ readiness and skills in physical and health education in developing countries. On April 6th the challenge will culminate, when the teams get to pitch their final solutions to a panel of experts as a part of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
Modern technology offers new ways and platforms for taking things further. What technological innovations have to offer for sports and wellbeing or development work? These themes you will also hear from the experts on the event.
Come to celebrate together with us the fifth International Day of Sport for Development and Peace and get inspired from these new age solutions for empowering quality in physical and health education in developing countries!
You are warmly welcome!
