The art of precision and abstraction coexists in the practice of origami.
A singular piece of square can be bent into anything from a simple boat to a full flying bird.
It not only is an engaging meditative process but helps build intuition for design.
Paper, the most easily found material becomes most versatile in this form of art.
Origami is basically the art of transforming a 2 dimensional plain into a 3 dimensional object through a series of folds. It is a very precise art-form; if the instructions are followed accurately, the desired results are achieved. An infinite number of possibilities are achievable through the combination of a finite number of folds. The Japanese originated this paper-toy making technique.
Origami is an effective and creative way to boost concentration and strengthen hand eye coordination, besides creating magnificent pieces in the process.
Art is not about the end product. Nor is any craft. It is the efficiency of the tool that helps us express better.
Through our workshop modules we want to do more than fold a paper into a crane - we want to instill the perception of design and creative thinking. We are trying to create a space where there is a dynamic learning and understanding of different art forms.
