Please join us on November 24th for the Films by Laura Huertas Millán with director in attendance! MDFF Selects Presented by Cinema Scope and TIFF is programmed by a group of local filmmakers and writers dedicated to discovering and championing new cinematic voices.

The films of French-Colombian artist and filmmaker Laura Huertas Millán fuse documentary and fantasy, personal introspection and historical inquiry to create "hyphenated" works that reflect the palimpsestic nature of both art and life. Following the premiere of her new film La Libertad at this year's Festival, we are pleased to present all three of the artist's preceding film works together, for the first time in Toronto.

"I am interested in syncretism, in the plurality of voices and narrative structures. In this, I am inspired by authors such as Roberto Bolaño, Virginia Woolf, Julio Cortázar, Henry James, Gloria Anzaldúa, Peter Watkins, Annie Ernaux, or Ursula K. Le Guin, who distill reality in forms that blur the distinction between what is true and what [is] merely plausible. This aesthetic calls forth an altered state of perception, a temporal/spatial voyage into the depths of the self, of dream, and memory - a truly embodied experience." —Laura Huertas Millán
