Come and join us in celebrating the opening of Paintervore the solo exhibition of Ralph Bristow.
The exhibition - “Paintervore” is a suite of selected paintings spanning three years and celebrates life fed and nourished through painting, living on a diet of paint!
Every painting is a portable meeting place, the crux between the realities of the viewers world and mine, where inner and outer universes mingle.
I live in North East Regional Victoria and work in a purpose built studio overlooking the Broken River. My paintings are multidimensional, dependant on inspiration rather than ideas. Arranged in a form of mindful collage combined with complex colour combinations as well as monochromatic palates. Paint is applied with a sense of urgency, spontaneously, dancing with paint and brush, synchronising hand and eye with the present moment, streaming consciousness into the work.
I am inspired by my experiences of the self, spirit, feelings, place, the universe, intimacy, science, scale, landscape, paint, colour and present consciousness. Other themes and issues such as sexuality, politics, injustices, religion, racism, social agendas, to name a few also get a mention in the paintings, although they are not my central focus but do pervade and interrupt my practice.
