About Blackstratblues -

Blackstratblues, formed in 2006, is the blues-rock project of guitarist, songwriter and producer Warren Mendonsa.

Warren got his formal start in music in 1998 in Mumbai, forming seminal rock band Zero with childhood friends Sidd Coutto and brothers Girish and Rajeev Talwar. Over the years, Zero grew to enjoy nationwide popularity in India, winning competitions like IIT-Mumbai's Mood Indigo and RSJ's Great Indian Rock.

In late 2004, Warren departed from Zero, and moved to Auckland, New Zealand. During this period, he was also a highly sought-after recording engineer and session guitarist in Bombay, having worked on various film soundtracks, ad jingles and other albums and leads the backing band for Coke Studio on MTV (India). Blackstratblues has grown to become one of the more mature indie acts of the country and hasn’t looked back since.

The current Blackstratblues line up includes Jai Row Kavi (Indus Creed, Tough On Tobacco, Karsh Kale) on Drums, Beven Fonseca (Clinton Cerejo) on Keyboards and Adi Mistry (Shankar Ehsaan Loy) on Bass.

The band has played some prestigious festivals such as the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Sulafest, Indigo & Blues and Mahindra Blues Festival.
