Now is a critical moment in the human story. It is a moment when many are awakening to the need for radical change and striving to advance our civilization. Our relationship to the land, to each other, to all living things and resources is evolving. Our ideas around peace, stewardship, sustainability, and equality are changing.
It is important to identify the barriers that prevent us from meeting our full potential as a global community and address each one. One of these barriers is “the myth of separation”. The notion that I am separate from you, that my culture is separate from yours, that my water and land and air are separate from yours, that we are separate from the animals, plants and minerals that sustain all life for everyone and everything. It’s time to replace this notion with the understanding that we are all part of one great entity. One community, one planet, one spirit. When that is understood, each person will know their importance to the whole and the value of each other person, creature, organism and resource. When we recognize the other as part of the self, respect for the planet and each other will naturally follow.
It is our intention that this exhibition will engage artists and audience to create and discuss artwork that challenges the myth of separation and look deeply at how intimately we are all connected.
