This Foundation Horsemanship Class will be all groundwork based. Participants will need a rope halter with a longer (12-14') lead rope and a flag. Please come to class saddled. We will cover preparing your horse to ride. If your horse is already ridable, this class will provide a checklist of things to do before you step on. The groundwork you do should directly relate to your riding. You will be surprised how much better your horse rides after going through the ground work presented here.

Part of the syllabus will include working on ropes, and flags around your horse to see that he's ok with all of that. We will work on using feel, timing, and balance to work with our horses to have a better partnership. Exercises include circling with quality (not lunging), calling cadence, yielding hindquarters and forequarters, prep for leg yielding, 3 ways to back your horse, backing circles correctly with quality, and getting your horse to willingly accept direction and be the partner you are wanting. After getting these items covered, we will be using obstacles and going out of the arena to put the practice to purpose. We will put all of the dance steps together in any order to prove and/or improve balance. Please RSVP to hold your spot.
