One of the greatest Sub-Saharan guitar bands, Tal National returns to Trinosophes for a night of high energy Afro-Rock. Lead by guitarist and Niger federal judge Almeida, Tal National keeps the tempos fast and danceable; Almeida's playing has a unique sound in the African guitar pantheon, as if he was getting the only King Crimson and Terry Riley records making it to West Africa. His minimalist, repetitive figures float above the band's rhythmic tidal wave, often turning into sweeping melodic statements that confirm his stature as one of Africa's most rocking guitarists..
Tal National last played Trinosophes with just a couple hours notice, after a performance at Arab American National Museum. For the few dozen people who made it there last minute, it was a show not to be forgotten.
