Nitty Gritty Slam, Albany Poets, & Troy Kitchen are proud to welcome teams from all over the Northeast to compete in this legendary Team Poetry Slam to be followed by a phenomenal "Indie Slam" for individual poets (yes YOU!). Come to enjoy, or compete, or judge, or just Be.

Doors Open at 1PM
Judge Selection 1:30PM
Team Slam Begins 2PM

The slam will require a $5-20 sliding scale donation for entry at the door.

Albany Poets presents the annual Albany Word Fest (Word Fest Night of Features, Albany Poets Presents D. Colin, Readings Against the End of the World, and more)

The 2018 Albany Word Fest will feature our 6th Word Fest Invitational Slam, where teams from all over the Northeast will come together to compete for prizes and bragging rights. The Word Fest Invitational Slam is the exclamation point on an amazing week of open mics, featured readings, and dynamic poetry and spoken word.

Here's how the dopeness is going down:

Competing Teams Sign Up in Advance (deadline April 15th, 2018). Teams should expect a traditional 4 round team poetry slam with 4-6 teams from the Northeast striving for poetic glory.

1st and 2nd Place get cash prizes!

Remember. Speak Poet. And leave it all on the stage. Always. We look forward to sharing in your truth.
