Alabama Writers’ Forum is reinstating the Alabama Book Festival teacher workshop this year on April 20, 2018.
This workshop is offered to Alabama teachers and counselors for grades 6-12 free of charge courtesy of the Alabama State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Support the Arts Car Tag fund.
You can download the flyer with all the details and registration form here: http://www.alabamabookfestival.org/april-20-creative-writing-teacher-workshop.html
Our line-up of writers is terrific this year and spans poetry with Jerriod Avant and James E. Cherry, fiction with Marlin Barton, and screenwriting with P.F. Kluge. Each of these presenters may also touch on other areas in their presentations. In the morning, Avant and Barton will introduce you to several of our newly-minted Writing Our Stories lessons based on major works by Alabama Writers Hall of Fame authors; Cherry will read from his poems during the lunch break. Kluge will share the art of screen-writing and inspiring young writers in the afternoon session. Lunch is provided, and a certificate of participation.
