Well, it's that time of year again when we dust off the turntables and head out to our favourite rekkid shop and celebrate spending actual money on actual polyvinyl chloride analogue sound storage discs, or Record Store Day as some people call it.
We celebrate it every year as I personally believe that any day that encourages people to get out and support their local independent record shop is a good thing. It's also about people hanging out and talking about and listening to music in an inviting and relaxing environment, better known as ..... a record shop.
As always we will have live music and as always it's FREE and ALL AGES. This year we're keeping it very much in the family and celebrating on Sat April 21st with

Leavings (12" launch)
Grinding Eyes (Syd)
Bands from midday
We will be launching Leavings AMAZING 12" out through Tym records (TYM057) on RSD and available at the instore.
This LP was recorded at Tym studios by Donnie and then mixed and mastered by Donnie so it's really a Tym release.
These guys play angular, abrasive yet beautiful guitar/bass/drum driven punk with hooks and riffs everywhere interjected with catchy, melodic vocals.
This debut 12" sounds like Brisbane and yet draws influences from far away in space and time.
It's an amazing LP from three young guys making great abstract pop. Come along and watch them play and launch it.
Grinding Eyes are a four piece psych garage band from Sydney who combine modern and vintage noise into moving soundscapes laden with fuzz and reverb with the expertise you would expect from a group of seasoned musicians like these. Grinding Eyes released their debut LP (TYM056) on Tym records last year, after previously releasing 2 7"s (TYM037/045) on Tym records, and it's an incredible piece of long playing garage psych vinyl.
Comte De St Germain :
Comte De St Germain is the alter-ego of Brisbane-born Joseph Johns, an ex guitar tech and bassplayer for Deadcuts. Johns has also been involved collaborating with The Vaccines’ Arni Arnason on the latter’s “Depresso Tropicana” solo project, as well as on an upcoming project with ex Fat White Family bassist Joseph Pancucci-Simpson.
Julia R. Anderson :
Intimate summer nights by the side of a portable 4 track. Cheap guitars, casios, reverb soak, samples.
Aesthetic which blends the once disparate fields of sampling and ambience with the rock and pop world, weaving bizarre instrumental textures through traditional forms.
Leavings : 12" Tym records launch.
Leavings is a three piece punk band from Brisbane, Australia. Combining driving, aggressive bass and drums, shouted vocals, and wiry guitar with catchy, muscular hooks and cavernous noise and drone-scapes, the group's songs generate a bold, vigorous energy that is both affirming and cathartic.
Grinding Eyes :
Grinding Eyes combine Psychedelic Drone-Rock and ambient Garage-Punk in a dark soundscape.
Psych-Rock, Krautrock, Shoegaze and Garage- Punk can be heard..
Comte De St Germain's debut single, “Down To The Wire” is out digitally on 30th November 2017. www.cdsgmusic.net
