April 21 from 4pm to 6 pm
Leopard Canyon, in RAK is a really interesting little wadi. We will not do the full and challenging loop, only the wadi section to visit the old ancient settlements on the edge of the cliff and the caves. In the afternoon, it will be very pleasant with nice breezes and shade from the high mountains on either side of us as we walk.
This is classified as a beginner hike because its short in duration, only 2.5 hours. Anyone participating in fitness activites on a regular basis will find this very enjoyable. There is a lot of bouldering, meaning you will have to lift yourself over the rocks and then back down, which can put stress on your knees.
Trekking shoes are essential, but can be loaned upon arrival as long as you request them with your waiver in advance.
3 pm is our aimed starting time at the trailhead. The location is in RAK, about 3 hours from Abu Dhabi and 1.5 from Dubai. You will be finished by 530 pm, walking out just at sunset.
The last 5 km section will require an off road car, but we always make it work.
Cost: 250 DH
