CAO’s 9th Annual Culture Night: Nokor
Hello friends and family of CAO! Cambodian Awareness Organization welcomes all of you to our 9th Annual Culture Night, "Nokor." The cast and crew have worked incredibly hard to put on a show full of Khmer culture, dance, and music. Come and support CAO!
"Nokor" is written and directed entirely by this year's CAO Culture Night Coordinator, Erika Clark! This is a play that takes place in Cambodia during the French colonial period and touches on themes of the colonizer vs. the colonized. “Nokor” is a symbol of this theme because that is what the Cambodian people called Angkor before the French passively influenced the pronunciation of the word due to their inability to pronounce Nokor.
