The Department of Writing & Rhetoric Symposium is an annual event designed to showcase student research and scholarship in civic, professional, and academic writing and rhetoric, offer a variety of interactive workshops aimed at professional and intellectual development, and feature a nationally-recognized keynote speaker.

The 2018 keynote will be delivered at 10:30AM in the Key West Ballroom by Dr. Chris Lam, Associate Professor in the Department of Technical Communication at the University of North Texas. Dr. Lam’s featured session will be immediately followed by the induction ceremony for our Pegasus Chapter of Pi Epsilon Pi, the national Honor Society for undergraduate students in writing studies.

The 2018 theme “Identities in the Making: Materials, Methods, and Practices” emphasizes the roles that disciplinary, professional, and personal practices play in the development of our identities as writers, scholars, teachers, experts, and citizens. Featured and concurrent sessions will highlight topics of interest to those across majors and departments who engage in writing, research, and disciplinary identity-building.
