Becoming a lawyer is one of the most popular career aspirations amongst 15-18 year-olds. Such popularity makes work experience so difficult to secure. The Young Lawyer programme brings top, established lawyers into a room to provide you with everything you would seek to gain from work experience at a world-class law firm.
You will gain a genuine experience of life as a lawyer in various disciplines, both through sessions with solicitors and barristers from areas such as criminal, corporate and human rights; AND through undertaking some key tasks yourself including legal analysis, giving advice, negotiating and performing advocacy. The case studies are based on real-life matters, thus putting you into the shoes of a lawyer for the duration of the programme.
You will be guided on how to get a high-flying job in the legal profession – with advice ranging from which A-levels to choose, which universities to apply for and how to tackle personal statements; all the way to how to excel in CVs, application forms and interviews.
You will meet with established lawyers from a variety of disciplines, and be given the chance to ask them questions on a personal basis. These professionals can become vital mentors for you throughout your career.
Further, students can reference their attendance on the Young Lawyer Programme in UCAS personal statements as an example of where they have gained key skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, commercial awareness and public speaking.
Our last programme sold out well in advance, so we suggest you book soon so you do not miss out! As of 2017, over 10,000 students have attended InvestIN's programme:
