#فعاليات_المكتبات_والمعلومات 2018 - #قطر :
UCL Qatar is organising a one-week intensive short course on Arabic Cataloguing.
Arabic cataloguing requires skills in original cataloguing combined with a good understanding of the specifics of the Arabic content. To meet the demand for Arabic Cataloguing training, UCL Qatar is offering a select group of library professionals the opportunity to attend the Arabic Cataloguing module of the MA Library and Information Studies programme.
By the end of the course attendees will:
· Understand how to create and edit Arabic cataloguing records;
· Be knowledgeable on different classification schemes and their practical use;
· Be familiar with good practice in cataloguing material in Arabic within school library environments.
This workshop would be of interest to cataloguers who seek to enhance their cataloguing skills in working with Arabic language library materials. The course will include a substantial hands-on training and will
address in detail the special needs of cataloguing for school libraries. The course will be delivered in
English and Arabic; a good command of Arabic is essential. The course is most
appropriate for applicants who already have experience in cataloguing and classification but are interested in developing further their professional skills in cataloguing Arabic materials.
· A good command of Arabic
· A Second Class Bachelor’s degree from a UK University, a GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 from a recognised international university, or a further qualification of an equivalent standard. Substantial work experience in a relevant role will be potentially considered without a degree.
