The Native American Success Initiative promotes the retention, academic success, and graduation of Native American students while providing resources to support Native American students' personal and professional development. This initiative addresses the academic, social, cultural, and psychological needs of Native American students through a wide range of intentionally designed and carefully coordinated curricular, and social programs.
Peer Mentors serve to support and encourage the first year students enrolled into the Native American Success Initiative. Peer Mentors lead mentees through their first year at the University of Central Oklahoma and help new students throughout the academic year. Through one-on-one and group meetings, Peer Mentors will be a knowledgeable guide for new students, a thoughtful facilitator who provides access to people and resources and ultimately a role model and advocate.
