Join UCR Palm Desert, The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, and Rivers & Lands Conservancy at their Wild and Scenic Film Festival on Saturday, April 21 at 3 p.m. at UCR Palm Desert. Doors open at 2:30 pm and the films wlll begin at 3 pm.
This FREE festival will feature incredible, hard-hitting short films, including “The Rhino Guardians,” the story of the world’s first all-female anti-poaching unit; “Wildlife and the Wall,” a look at what effects building a border wall might have on wildlife dispersal, migratory corridors, and access to water; and “Running Wild,” the amazing tale of ultramarathoners who set off through the mountains in search of elusive wolverines. Snacks and beverages will be available, as well as entertainment from a falconer and her live hawk eagle.
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival was started by the watershed advocacy group, the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) in 2003. The festival was started in celebration of SYRCL’s landmark victory upon receiving "Wild & Scenic” status for 39 miles of the South Yuba River in 1999. This year, a 5-day festival in Nevada City kicked off an international tour with 170 stops around the globe-- and UCR Palm Desert is excited to host the film festival as SYRCL continues to celebrate its momentous achievement.
