Join the United Jewish People’s Order for our monthly Alternative Shabbes, followed by a talk by journalist Evan Balgord on the landscape of the white supremacist alt-Right in Toronto. After that we will have a workshop with local organizer Jacob Zelig on tactics Toronto groups have used in recent resistance against the alt-Right. Zelig will also explore formulating creative options for the ongoing struggle.
We are coming together to mobilize against the far right with a skills-building talk that connects immediate concerns about antisemitism with the broader activist context in which it takes place. This event aims to build consciousness and excitement about solidarity beyond the framework provided by liberalism, by creating connections, building skills, and breaking down a sense of alienation from radical politics.
This event is the first in what we envision as a series of talk-shops to strengthen our communities, grow our skills, and expand our tactics in the city’s fight against white supremacist movements. We invite you to join us to organize this series. More details at the event.
