After a very successful Quick Paint in Union Cemetery in 2017, Plein Air KC has decided to bring back the fun in 2018! The artwork that came out of the 2017 Quick Paint in the cemetery blew patrons away and we can't wait to see what our artists create in 2018!
On May 10th from 6pm - 8pm, artists will transform blank canvases into great works of art in one of Kansas City's most historic cemeteries. Not only will patrons have the opportunity to watch artists painting in action, but they will enjoy tasty food and live music!
Pita for Good and Ssaacc Lunch food trucks will be on site to provide yummy food from their trucks, so come hungry! Food will be ready to serve at 5pm. Doug Peete's Jazz Fod Good will perform live jazz throughout the evening while guests revel in the gorgeous Union Cemetery.
Union Cemetery Historical Society will be giving two walking tours of the Cemetery and we encourage you to join! Tours will begin at 6:30pm and at 7:30pm. Reserve your spot by ordering your ticket!
Founded in 1857, Union Cemetery is the oldest public cemetery in Kansas City, MO, and is the final resting place of over 55,000 souls. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the land was originally claimed and plotted out to be the cemetery for both the town of Westport and the town of Kansas (now Kansas City). Many famous and historically significant individuals are buried in the Cemetery, without whom, Kansas City would not be what it is today.
We hope you will join the party on May 10th in Union Cemetery! Patrick Saunders Fine Arts will judge the Quick Paint immediately following the final horn at 8pm.
This event is sponsored by Union Hill Kansas City and is free and open to the public.
