The Report: What Happened with the (Act 54) Advisory Panel?
Racial Disparities in the Criminal and Juvenile Justice System Advisory Panel - The Criminal Justice System
In December Human Rights Commission Director and the Assistant Attorney General released a report summarizing their assessment of systemic racism in the systems of housing, employment, education, health services access and economic development. The Chair and Vice Chair of the Attorney General's Panel released a report on the criminal justice system on March 2nd.
What is in this report and what makes this report so much more important? What is the backstory and what were the challenges in this work? How will we move forward? How do the emerging Equity Commission to Mitigate Systemic Racism bills (S.281 and H.868) factor into the discussion? This forum will answer these questions, direct a discussion on systemic racism in Vermont's criminal justice system and our hope for a path forward.
