Please attend the first planning meeting for the annual Sondra King Memorial Crop Walk to End Hunger in the Fellowship Hall of UUFD on Wednesday, April 18th, at 7 p.m. Your involvement is very important.
Did you know?
In just the past 10 years the annual crop walk has raised over $250,000. Of the total amount raised, over $60,000 has served to support the work of local groups such as Voluntary Action Center Meals on Wheels, Hope Haven, Safe Passage and area food pantries.
The annual Crop Walk is the ONLY fundraising event that helps address food insecurity here for our neighbors. 20% of our children in DeKalb County struggle with food insecurity. In our DeKalb Schools, 50 to 60% of students struggle with not knowing when their next meal will come. Together we can make a difference.
This year the Walk will be held on Sunday October 14th at 3 p.m. UUFD is co-sponsoring the walk with the First Congregational Church. The UUFD Social Justice Committee is taking the lead; however, we need the help and support of our entire UUFD community. The first planning meeting will be held in the Fellowship Hall of UUFD on Wednesday, April 18th, at 7 p.m. Please plan to attend. Your involvement is very important. If you can't make the kick-off meeting but would like to get involved, please let us know! Don't think someone else has more time. Don't think, “Oh someone else will do it.” Don't think, “It will not make a difference if I am there or not.” You are the difference. You are the one we need. You are the change we have been waiting for.
